Intimacy amidst.

"Days set apart can be a trap, detracting from the need to have daily quiet time with God. That is why we must 'pitch our tents' where we will always have quiet times with Him, however noisy our times with the world may be. There are not three levels of spiritual life- worship, waiting and work. Yet some of us seem to jump like spiritual frogs from worship to waiting, and from waiting to work. God's idea is that the three should go together as one." -Oswald Chambers

A hot, steamy cup of coffee just before the sun rises, on my favorite side of the couch in the quiet of my own home and after a good night's rest. I must be honest, these are the mornings I have typically felt most inclined to read the bible.

My husband and I love to travel. It is a large, collective part of our lifestyle.

But while on the road, I've noticed my bible reading doesn't happen regularly and my prayers aren't as intimate.

The noise, you see, that's what keeps me from sitting still long enough to "do it right".

Well, I don't imagine the adventures, the messy details of life, the days I'm not feeling well, or the days stuff will just come up, will ever cease to come.

Perhaps a conventional lifestyle would offer a "comfortable" way of having quiet moments with God, but intimacy with Him is available to me and you, regardless of location and feelings.

I am entirely grasping the reality that to remain grounded and connected with my Father, is not to compartmentalize where or how, rather it is all beautifully coiled together.
