We’re all aware of the heartache happening worldwide and no one of us is immune to pain in this life.
John Eldredge puts it this way, “We live in a love story set in a world at war.”
Across the seas, in our own country, in our own neighborhood we are tempted with hopelessness.
I resonate with King David when he said that his thanksgiving would be a sacrificial offering to the Lord as it isn’t always easy to be thankful.
But, I am at once, challenged and championed when I remember to surrender my voice in praise, when I remember that it is also my weapon against the voices of discouragement and defeat, when I remember that it is my exclusive honor as His child to do so.
I become grateful and am comforted when I focus on the fact that nothing can, ever has or ever will dethrone our King.
Tragedies may come,
Wars may rise,
Tears may flow,
But He is still God,
And ever worthy of our praise.
It is my prayer that these words be true for us all as we gather for Thanksgiving.
“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to [the abundance of] His greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flute. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; Praise Him with loud cymbals. Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)”
